How to make floating shelves using wine crates
First, you need to get wines crates. In Quebec, we can have wine crates at the local liquor store (SAQ). They either give them for free or charge a small fee and donate it to a charity.
Don’t worry if there are stickers all over them. If you use a hairdryer you’ll get them off easily. If you have a Heat craft tool, it will be even easier. Then, if you feel they are still sticky, just sand with a fine grit sandpaper.
Make holes in the top corners of the wine crates and screw them to the wall. Chances are you won’t be in line with the wall studs so you’ll need to use wall anchors.
And if you’re a bit excessive like me 😉 you can use SketchUp Make to figure out the best way to hang the wine crates:
Yeah, I do that sometimes!!!!! It can take me forever to find the best solution! Are you like that too?
