I love to travel. Lucky for me, my husband loves it too. It’s actually something we discovered together. And, not having family members close by to babysit the kids, we got used to bringing them with us.
The first time we took the plane with both the kids was to go see the grandparents in Florida. My son was 1 and my daughter was 3 (wow, long time ago!).
But the first big trip we did was to go see my friend in Norway while stopping in Paris. At that time, the kids were 5 and 7. I’m telling you, they got used to travel and love it. Since all those years, I learned a lot of tricks that can help a family when travelling.

Best travel gifts for families
Now, if you want to keep your sanity regarding the clothes in the luggage, this is a must-have. We bought one kit for each member of the family and each kit is a different colour. When we get to the hotel or wherever we are, we can take our cubes out of the luggage and have our stuff near our bed. The kids now manage their own things. I’m telling you, sanity saver!
Another sanity saver if you ask me is this toiletry bag. Everything for the family gets in there. When we arrive at our destination, we just hang it in the bathroom. No more “mom, where’s my toothbrush?”
How about all the cables we need to bring when we travel? Tablet, phone, e-reader, etc. There’s no getting out of it! This cable organizer is another great way to find everything you need. I like that it’s relatively compact.
Another thing that I couldn’t live without is my tote bag from Peak Design. I carry it with me on the plane. It has these “Flexifold” dividers that let you organize the inside of the tote however you like. It has easy-open side panels for quick access. What I also love it’s the magnetic closure (I’m the pro in forgetting to close my bag! Not a problem with this one). It can also be attached to a carry-on luggage.
Talking about Peak Design, the reason I have this bag is that my husband swears only by this company. The quality of the bags are incredible and the customer service is also awesome. He personally owns the “Everyday backpack” that he uses to bring his laptop and camera to work (yeah… he does that!). But now, he just got himself the new travel backpack. For now, I can’t really tell you what’s good about this bag since he didn’t use it yet. But, just looking at this picture will show you how promising it is! The kids always have their own backpack when we travel. In the plane, they are responsible for their own games and stuff. When we visit places, they bring their backpack too. Even if there’s almost nothing inside, just carrying their own sandwich, for example, gives them a sense of responsibility and makes them very proud.

The important thing to remember when buying a backpack for a kid (and for an adult as a matter of fact!) it’s to have a front strap (sternum strap) so you can adjust the bag properly and prevent the shoulder straps from slipping. This one would be a great choice for kids.
This last one is on my “to buy” list. My husband always manages all the plane tickets and passports when we’re at the airport. I like that this family passport holder would make everything easily accessible and safe (RFID).
Now you must think I’m an organized freak! lol And you might be right!😜 I like when things run smoothly and I can enjoy my vacation instead of worrying about the little details and losing time trying to find things.
