Required materials
- 16 oz Mason jars (500 ml)
- Small pebbles
- Soil for indoor plants
- Spider Plant Cutting
- Yellow Acrylic Paint
- Round Sponge Brush
- Permanent Black marker
- Matte Mod Podge
Steps for the plant
First, put the pebbles at the bottom of the Mason jar to fill about a quarter of the pot.
Then add the previously moistened soil.
Digging a hole with your finger like this:
Insert the spider plant cutting into the hole.
Steps for painting the planter
Using the yellow paint and round sponge brush apply the paint to the jar by dabbing. This creates a texture on the jar instead of brush strokes. I have to give my daughter credit for thinking of that! 😉
Be sure to apply the paint high enough on the jar so you don’t see the glass once the metal ring is added.
Then with the permanent black marker make “V” all around the jar.
For the last step, add a layer of matte Mod Podge and put the lid on. And here’s a nice pineapple!
An easy DIY that can be done by children in no time! It’s also a great gift to offer! We gave it as a host gift to my daughter’s friend who loves pineapples!

That is so great! Thanks very much!
How adorable. It is a great idea for a hostess gift and I like the idea that it is easy enough for kids to make it.
Thanks Debra! Definitely easy for kids to make!
So cute and so simple while being happy looking. Yellow seems to have that effect on people. Really cute gift to give anybody and a living gift with the plant. Clever of your daughter about the texture with dabber.
Thanks for sharing the gorgeous photo from the race in France.
Happy daze
